American Women’s History Journey E-Zine welcomes both scholars and historians to submit articles (around 2,000 words) on featured women, women’s historiography, and women’s history websites and organizations.
If you want to participate in our upcoming podcast, please complete the Podcast submission guidelines, which can be found if you scroll to the bottom of this page.
Although we cannot pay authors, you will own rights to any and all of your submissions. This is an opportunity to share your interests and research with our readers, as well as to gain experience using different writing styles.
Below you will find the guidelines for articles and for podcast features.
For articles about American women’s history and historiography, use this format:
1. Type article and submit in doc format (Word is preferred), 12 pt.
2. Provide the Title of your Article, Underline it.
3. Body of article (around 2000 words).
4. Attach a jpg or PNG formatted photo if desired as a featured photo that depicts something about your topic.
5. At the end of your article, please provide your references to include (Author, Article Title, Source, Date, and a URL if available) as well as a list of any related articles or books that add more insight to your article.
Note: Although we are not following any specific scholarly style format for references, please try to include the same information that you would include for your academic papers for our readers, so they can find those sources.
For each article, we want to include information about the author. Please attach a small photo headshot of yourself, and the name you wish to use as your author credit. Please provide a really short background, i.e. Professor of History at ____ University, or author of ______, etc.
After three published articles, American Women’s History Journey E-Zine, will add that author to our upcoming Authors Listing page. Please provide your short bio and how you would like your author post to appear in that listing.

If you are a historian, a scholar with an exciting research topic about American women’s history, or if you have a women’s history website, publication, organization or a new book to promote, we invite you to participate in our podcast.

Podcast interviews will range from ten to fifteen minutes. These will all be pre-recorded via telephone.
Prior to your interview, we will contact you via telephone/e-mail to help you to prepare for the recorded interview.
These are all informal conversations, so please do not feel intimidated or nervous.
